A new judge has been appointed to the provincial court in La Ronge.
Erin Layton earned his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000 and began work as a lawyer with Eisner Mahon Burningham in Melfort. She went on to work as a lawyer with the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in both Prince Albert and La Ronge, according to a release from the province.
Layton hails from Missinipe and graduated from Churchill High School in La Ronge. She served as a mentor for a number of lawyers in Prince Albert and La Ronge.
Judge Layton replaces Judge Mary McAuley, who is transferring to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert. McAuley will be assuming duties on the Cree Court circuit, the province said.
