Administration at Northlands College is proud to have a record number of graduates Saturday at its annual university graduation ceremony.

“We were very excited with the number of graduates we had this year,” Manager of University Programming Chandra McDougald said. “I think it would be a record year for us. We’re very proud. We’re always proud to recognize our student accomplishments.”

The ceremony was held at Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre and a total of 30 graduates either received a degree, diploma or certificate of some kind that day. Thirteen graduates were honoured with Bachelor of Education degrees while seven received Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. Those part of the 2019 graduating class come from across northern Saskatchewan.

Bachelor of Education recipients include Rachael Clarke (Kinoosao), Cadena Deschambeault (Cumberland House), Lauren Hansen (Buffalo Narrows), Kelvin McKay, (Cumberland House), Joan McKenzie (Stanley Mission), Janice McLeod (Stanley Mission), Leila Morin (Beauval) Sheena Morin (Turnor Lake), Shannon Natomagan (Pinehouse Lake), Jarica Smith (Beauval), Megan Spence (La Ronge), Sasha Toulejour (La Loche) and Kristy Waite (La Ronge).

“A lot of our students are from out of town,” McDougald said. “A couple of our students who attend our campuses in Buffalo Narrows and Île-à-la-Crosse came to the graduation as well, along with their family and friends they had as support throughout their journey.”
