One dead in canoeing incident

Black Lake RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a canoeist who fell into a body of water located approximately 50 kilometres north of Points North, Saskatchewan on May 26, 2019 shortly after 7:30 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene they located an adult male who had been in a canoe, along with another adult male, when the canoe overturned. Officers immediately began searching the shoreline looking for the missing canoeist and soon located the body of a deceased adult man.

The deceased’s next of kin have been notified of the death of their family member and the name will not be released. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
