Reported standoff north of La Ronge

There are unconfirmed reports of a standoff currently underway in Sucker River, a small community 30 kilometers north of La Ronge.

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook-Searson stated late Wednesday morning police were in the community and are bringing in extra resources to help with the situation. She couldn’t share information as to what police where doing in the community other than they have been in contact with her.

A local resident told larongeNOW the incident is a standoff and community members are on lockdown.

larongeNOW has reached out to RCMP for information but no one was immediately available for comment. We will have more details as we get them.
