RCMP confirm fatality in two-vehicle collision south of La Ronge
One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision 30 kilometers south of La Ronge on Thursday.
That’s according to an RCMP media release, which states at approximately 1:00 p.m. members from the La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint of a head-on, two-vehicle collision on Highway 2. La Ronge EMS and the La Ronge Regional Fire Department also attended the scene.
Police stated a car was travelling north along Highway 2 when it collided with a semi truck heading the opposite direction. There was one occupant in the car who was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male driver and lone occupant of the semi was not injured and the semi truck was empty at the time. A traffic collision analyst attended the scene and conducted an investigation as the highway was closed for several hours.
The RCMP and Coroner’s office are still investigating, and the identity of the driver will be confirmed by the coroner’s office following an autopsy. RCMP do not anticipate releasing the name of the driver.
