CCHS Christmas Toy Drive aims to spread holiday cheer

Dec 13, 2019 | 6:02 PM

Tri-community residents are encouraged to participate in the Churchill Community High School Christmas Toy Drive.

“We just want to try to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer and help those in need,” Organizer Joslynn Thedorf said. “Last year, I helped a family with five kids who didn’t have toys for Christmas. It was either they had food or toys, so it was just a really good feeling to help a family. We’re hoping this year we can help a lot more in our community who are having a hard time over the Christmas season.”

There are bins at several locations in Air Ronge and La Ronge where residents can make a donation of a new or gently-used toy. Those locations are Ace Hardware, Giant Tiger, La Ronge Medical Clinic, Lake Country Co-op Food Store and Your Dollar Store With More.

The bins have been at these locations since last week and Theodorf stated they have received enough donations to assist 10 families. She has a goal of helping 30 to 40 families and residents can make donations until Dec. 20. The toys will be delivered to families before Christmas.
