Doctors in La Ronge still evaluating patients over the phone and online

Although staff are unable to see patients in-person at the La Ronge Medical Clinic, doctors are still able to speak with patients over the phone or online.

That’s according to a La Ronge Medical Clinic update, which states people should call the clinic to book one of those appointments. Patients might be required to go the clinic, but staff will do everything they can to keep you from contact with others. Patients could be asked to wait in their vehicle until they are able to take them in directly.

“We have made changes to accommodate prenatal appointments, so please continue to book the same though our clinic,” the update reads. “All testing including labs such as for those patients who are on warfarin, X-rays and ultrasounds will be done only on the recommendation of a physician or nurse. Patients of the Cancer Centre will still be able to have the same done with no break to services.”

When phoning into the clinic, a contact number will need to be provided so patients can be reached at a set time. Patients will be asked on the phone and at the clinic about symptoms that are flu-like or about recent travel.

In order to ensure access to medication for all patients, pharmacists are limiting prescription refills to 30 days to avoid stockpiling, which will then limit access to medication for others. The update states this is being done across the province.

Residents should also abide by public safety measures at this time like frequent hand washing, avoiding gatherings of 10 or more and maintaining a personal space of at least two meters.
