Restaurants and bars expanding services in La Ronge

The hospitality industry in La Ronge is expanding their services as part of Phase Three of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan rolling out across the province today.

“We’re really excited to serve people,” said Kostas Manager Prince Ching. “We opened the lounge. There’s 24 seating capacity in the lounge and, in the deck area, we are going to put four more tables and accommodate 16 more people there. In our side room, we can accommodate 20 people there at a time. In all, we can accommodate around 60 people.”

As part of the plan, however, customers will notice changes such as having no access to VLTs or the pool table. Staff will also have to follow the advice from the Saskatchewan Health Authority like sanitizing tables, chairs and menus after every use. The lounge will also have to maintain a 50 per cent service capacity for now.

While the lounge area of Kostas has reopened, the eat-in section of the restaurant will remain closed for the time being. Ching noted the business is unable to offer a buffet for lunch, so it could stay closed until they are able to do so.

“Before we opened today, we just did delivery and pick up, but everyone kept supporting us,” he said. “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You’re not only helping Kostas, but you’re also helping the workers here.”

Ching mentioned the lounge will continue to offer specials during the week including wing night, which is popular with local residents. He added, however, it will be done on a first come, first serve basis with no reservations.

Many other restrictions were also changed as of Monday such as the reopening of fitness and child care facilities, as well as places of worship. The size of public gatherings has also increased from 10 to 15 inside with up to 30 people permitted to form a group outdoors.

Other professionals allowed to resume work include tattoo artists, makeup designers, manicurists, pedicurists, electrologists and estheticians. Sun tanning parlours and facilities in which body piercing, bone grafting or scarification services are provided can also reopen.
