Landscaping begins at Air Ronge’s Heritage Park
Work to enhance Air Ronge’s Heritage Park began last week with groundwork and the addition of a parking area.
In 2019, the village council entered into final negotiations with La Ronge-based Little Rock Enterprises Inc. for a landscaping contract worth approximately $100,000. The contract will cover the groundwork at Heritage Park, which will include landscaping, drainage and gates for public access.
“He did some of the parking area last week and he was waiting to get some black dirt, so he started again yesterday,” Air Ronge Mayor Gordon Stomp said. “We just want to redo the whole area there. We’re going to plant some grass and we’re going to have to cut down some trees that have died.”
Most of the existing road entering into the park will also be removed this summer and the playground area will be enlarged. Stomp noted a gazebo will also be built in the middle of the park as a place for the public to gather and hosts picnics.
