NLSD submits plan for students returning to class in September
The Northern Lights School Division (NLSD) has submitted a draft plan to the provincial government detailing the precautions that will be in place when students return in September.
That’s according to NLSD Director of Education Jason Young, who said the plan was submitted to the Ministry of Education June 30, as well as the Saskatchewan Health Authority last week. He expects to receive feedback on the document in the coming weeks, noting it will be updated with feedback from the province if required.
“We have questions as well in terms of the roll out, but what we’re planning for is a typical school start up,” Young said. “That’s where we are today, but there are still a lot of pieces we have to work through in terms of preparation.”
When students return to school, Young mentioned classes will likely be done in a traditional classroom setting with some changes. For instance, he said students will remain in one classroom for most of the day to avoid movement with teachers coming to the students to teach. Young also added there will also be precautions when it comes to using shared resources like computers or library material.
