Facelift planned for Air Ronge Co-op Gas Bar

Upgrades will likely begin next month at the Air Ronge Co-op Gas Bar located along Highway 2.

That’s according to Lake Country Co-op Director of Retail Petroleum David Hudak, who said the upgrades will target the exterior of the store. Some of the changes include new branding on the building and canopy, new pumps, paving and the expansion of premium gasoline at the cardlock.

“The canopy will be moved up slightly and there will be a little bit more room between the pumps, so they’re not so tight together,” Hudak said. “There’s lots of boats and campers up there, we recognize that, so we want to make it as convenient as we can for customers.”

Some of the work in Air Ronge will also include installing an additional pipe to allow premium gas to flow to the cardlock pumps in the back of the store. The new pump islands will be stainless steel and will allow for customers to pay at the pump.

Hudak mentioned the store will be upgraded to look similar to La Ronge Co-op Gas Bar located only a few kilometres along the highway. Lake Country Co-op purchased that store last year, spending millions of dollars to do buy it and perform a thorough renovation.

“We’re hoping to start in the middle of August and be done before the end of October,” he said.

Hudak noted he’s uncertain if there will be an event or promotions to celebrate the remodel due to coronavirus social distancing measures in place.
