Planned overnight service outage in Northern communities

Much of northern Saskatchewan will experience a planned service outage tonight into the early hours of the morning.

According to a media release, on Sept. 15 from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. SaskTel will be doing maintenance on the infrastructure to their network. Due to the maintenance, the SaskTel wireless, internet and landline phone services will be unavailable.

The areas that will be affected are Brabant Lake, Besnard Lake, Black Lake, Cigar Lake, Collins Bay, David Lake Rapids, English Bay, Fond-du-Lac, Geikie River, Hall Lake, Island Falls, Key Lake, Lac La Ronge, La Ronge, McArthur River, McLennan Lake, Montreal Lake, McClean Lake, Molanosa, McPhee Lake, Missinipe, MacKay Lake, Pinehouse, Ramsay Bay, Sandy Bay, Stanley Mission, Stony Rapids, Sucker Lake, Sucker River, Thunder Hills, Timber Cove, Wadin Bay, Waskesiu Lake, Weyakwin, and Wollaston Lake.

Those in the affected area won’t be able to call 911. The public in the affected areas who are in need of police services will need to go to their local RCMP detachments and they will be open until the phone services are restored. The detachments open will be Montreal Lake, Waskesiu, South End, Wollaston Lake, Pinehouse, Stanley Mission, Fond Du Lac, Black Lake, Sandy Bay and La Ronge.
