RCMP issue 124 tickets during three-day traffic blitz in northern Sask.
Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services completed a busy weekend project in northern Saskatchewan.
According to an RCMP press release, from Sept. 17 to 20, there were 124 tickets issued primarily under the Traffic Safety Act and Vehicle Equipment Regulations and 85 warnings under the Traffic Safety Act and Vehicle Equipment Regulations. In addition, two drivers were arrested for impaired driving, one driver was charged for driving while prohibited and one vehicle was impounded.
“Officers conducted road safety education and enforcement initiatives in La Loche, Buffalo Narrows, Ile-a-La-Crosse, Turnor Lake and Beauval,” the release states. “The initiatives focused on impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and occupant restraints.”
The release noted Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services will continue to work diligently to keep roads and communities safe. It adds officers need the public’s help to achieve this goal by encouraging anyone who witnesses impaired driving or aggressive driving to report it to their local police service or by calling 911 immediately.
