COVID-19 diagnoses closes Southend school

Reindeer Lake School in Southend closed Wednesday after a case of coronavirus was diagnosed in an individual at the facility.

That’s according to a letter addressed to parents by Principal Gail Clarke, who said administration and staff are working closely with public health to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students.

“Public health will be contacting parents/guardians of students and any staff/visitors/volunteers who may have been in close contact with the case and providing direction,” the letter states. “If you do not hear from them, your child has likely not been exposed because of the measures that are in place.”

The letter also informs parents to call the toll-free health line at 811 if their child develops any COVID-19 symptoms. Parents are also encouraged to call the community health clinic as an alternative and remain at home.
