Man escapes from Besnard Lake Correctional Facility

On Friday afternoon, a 29-year-old man escaped from the Besnard Lake Correctional Facility.

Pinehouse Lake RCMP said in a statement that Travis Tyler Smith was suspected to have left the facility at 2:10 p.m. It is unknown where Smith went after leaving, but does have ties to Montreal Lake and Weyakwin.

Travis Smith is 6’0” tall, 205 lbs, with black hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos including ‘#5’ on his left hand; a skull and cross on his right forearm; a skull with a ribbon on his left chest area; and the word ‘mom’ and a cross on the right side of his neck.

At the time he left the facility, Smith was wearing grey sweatpants, a dark long sleeve shirt, a plaid jacket, and a black Nike hat.
