Coronavirus exposure at Churchill, Pre-Cam schools in La Ronge

Nov 18, 2020 | 4:06 PM

The Northern Lights School Division announced Wednesday both of its schools in La Ronge were exposed to the coronavirus after individuals tested positive.

In separate letters to caregivers, the division announced two individuals tested positive at Pre-Cam Community School and one individual tested positive at Churchill Community High School. The affected classrooms will remain closed for two weeks until Dec. 1 and Churchill will be closed Thursday to undergo a deep cleaning.

“Parents are being contacted and students will be staying home and learning remotely in order to minimize any disruption to learning,” both letters state. “At this point, there is no evidence of COVID-19 transmission within the school setting.”

The letters also explain all close contacts will be identified and contacted, as well as provided direction from public health regarding isolation, testing and follow up.

“If you do not hear from them directly, that means your child has not been assessed to be a close contact and can continue to attend school as per their regular schedule,” the letters state.

If you or your child develops any symptoms of the coronavirus, call the HealthLine at 811 and remain at home.
