Unseasonal temperatures in La Ronge to continue for another week: Environment Canada
Above-average temperatures are expected to continue in La Ronge for at least another week or longer.
That’s according to Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang, who said above-average temperatures have persisted since the beginning of December. She called the long stretch of unseasonal weather unusual, considering winter was forecasted to be colder and snowier than average.
“Thirty-year average highs for this time of year is around -15 C and the average overnight lows are around -26 C, so we’re nowhere near any of those temperatures,” Lang said. “We still haven’t really seen a polar vortex with the really, really cold temperatures. It hasn’t appeared on the horizon yet, even though we are seeing indications it will cool to more seasonal temperatures.”
As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature was 2 C in La Ronge with the overnight low expected to be -6 C.
