LLRIB supports dog control bylaw
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band has introduced a dog control bylaw.
In a public notice released on April 16, officials stated the purpose of the bylaw is to provide licensing and registration for cats and dogs, to control and regulate cats and dogs, to provide for the safe impounding of dogs that are running at large and to provide a safe environment from dangerous dogs.
“The animal control officer or any other person designated by the council may capture or seize any dog found running at large, or in respect of which any other violation of the bylaw has been committed and shall thereupon deliver such dog to the Band Dog Pound,” the release states.
The notice also explains owners should ensure their animal is not running at large and it should be provided with clean potable water and food in sufficient quantity to allow for healthy growth or to maintain a healthy body weight.
