Johnson, Körner nominated for 2021 Saskatchewan Book Awards

Two northern Saskatchewan authors have made it onto the 2021 Saskatchewan Book Awards Shortlist.

Nominated in the Rasmussen and Company Indigenous Peoples Writing Award category is Harold Johnson was his book Cry Wolf: Inquest into the True Nature of a Predator. The second northerner nominated is Miriam Korner in the Edna and G. Murray Forbes Foundation Young Adult Award category for Qaqavii.

Johnson’s book examines the 2005 death of Kenton Carnegie, who was killed in a wolf attack at a work camp in northern Saskatchewan, as well as other attacks. Korner’s book is about how a young woman becomes involved in sled dog racing after she moves to Churchill and meets an Inuk boy.
