La Ronge RCMP arrest woman for cocaine possession

La Ronge RCMP arrested and charged a local woman after finding her in the possession of cocaine.

According to an RCMP news release, officers from the La Ronge detachment executed a search warrant Wednesday on a vehicle and a hotel room in La Ronge, and four individuals were taken into custody.

During the search, police seized cocaine, cash, scales, drug paraphernalia, and electronics.

As a result, 39-year-old Juniata Halkett of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, and breach of court conditions charges.

Halkett has been held in custody and will make her first court appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on May 27. The other three individuals were released without charges.
