La Ronge Pharmacy officially opens downtown

Another business opened along La Ronge Avenue on Thursday with the goal of enhancing medical care to northern residents.

La Ronge Pharmacy is co-owned by Sanket Patel and is located at the former Lakeside Auto building. Extensive renovations occurred in the interior with new paint, flooring, light fixtures and furniture such as shelves and cabinets. There were also some minor changes to the exterior.

“It’s a nice community,” Patel said of La Ronge. “There are good people here and we would like to help with health problems and the medication needs.”

The new pharmacy will be offering counselling and prescription services by a pharmacist. Services also include the dispensing of medication, packaging, as well as offering diabetes and other medical supplies.

La Ronge Pharmacy is privately owned and is not part of any major chain. It will be open Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but Patel noted it could also open Saturdays once there is a large enough customer base to do so.

La Ronge Pharmacy joins other similar businesses in La Ronge including Harbour Pharmacy across the street and another pharmacy located in Giant Tiger.
