Lake Country Cottage Restaurant: Meals like Mom used to make

Jul 15, 2021 | 4:57 PM

Nestled inside the serenity of Christopher Lake lies a hidden gem where locals gather for food and comfort that can only be found at a family member’s home. Since 1999, this family-owned and operated licensed restaurant has served as a hub for the community, and its food has happily filled the bellies of guests coming through the door for the past 22 years.

Lake Cottage Country Restaurant treats you like an extension of the family, so you feel like you’re visiting your auntie and uncle every time you stop by.

Dean Timm explained the experience is like seeing a relative that feeds you and makes sure you’re eating well. He said this is achieved through a personalized experience rather than generic customer service.

“Anyone can give you customer service because that’s a bunch of people kissing up to you. Personalized service is treating people the way that they want to be treated. Some are chatty, others are more standoffish, and others like the concept of our birds and everything else there,” Timm explained.

“We just treat everybody with respect, and you know that part goes without saying, but I mean, you try to treat people with respect, they’re treating you with respect, and your personality gets into it, and we’ve got loads of personality at Lake Country Cottage.”

No matter what your dietary requirements may be, Lake Cottage Country Restaurant can provide you with a delicious home-cooked meal that’ll have you feeling like you’ve just come home for some good eating.

Timm shared he and his mother share their family recipes with their patrons, offering alternatives and options on their menu to accommodate the needs of each person in their care.

“You’ve got to try to be there for the people and help them work with them because each one of the customers that comes in there helps keep your business going. Things don’t always work, but you try your best,” Timm said.

“We had a kid who was one of our common customers who acquired a fish allergy over time, and just to accommodate for him, we had an extra deep fryer in. We’re getting busier anyways, so we just made it that it only works for two things, nothing else.”

One of Lake Country Cottage Restaurant’s claims to fame is their made-from-scratch lasagna. Timm shared each bite is specially crafted with hand-made pasta and coated with a re-mastered sauce tweaked to peak performance. Maybe a lighter meat is something you’re looking for. Give the locally-sourced beer-battered fish a chance to hook your taste buds. Vegetarian? Well, the hand-crafted veggie burger may be right up your alley.
