Vaccine uptake steadily rising in Far North
If community members continue to follow all the prevention measures shared by the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA), Fond du Lac residents may beat the presumptive outbreak announced earlier this week.
That’s according to the latest situation report by primary health care executive director Taiwo Olubanwo, who noted there’s been 12 recoveries in the community within the past five days. There’s currently a total of 10 cases in Fond du Lac and 20 across the health region.
“Although there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel, it is somewhat too early to celebrate,” he wrote. “We are confident that the FDL community will come out strong due to their impressive response toward COVID-19 prevention measures that we frequently shared. We commend all the community members for their cooperation hitherto.”
Olubanwo explained while vaccine uptake might seem slow, there has been a steady increase. So far, 32 per cent of residents in AHA are fully vaccinated with the rate being 37 per cent in Fond du Lac. Black Lake remains low with only 16 per cent of residents fully vaccinated.
