Active case total falls below 600, no new COVID-related deaths reported today by province

The province is reporting 35 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.

With a drop of 44 cases from yesterday’s total, there are now only 568 cases considered active for the first time since Aug. 6.

The active case count in the province has fallen below 600 cases today, including 112 in the northern zones of the province. (Government of Saskatchewan)

There are now 112 cases active in the northern zones of the province and six new cases reported today in those regions; North West (one) and North Central (five).

No new deaths were reported today leaving the provincial total at 937 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

Almost one-third (31.4 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 40 to 59.

More than one-half (58.1 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged five years and older) were fully vaccinated

As of Dec. 13, a total of 110 individuals are hospitalized, including 76 inpatient hospitalizations and 34 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 110 patients, 69 (62.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICU counts, there is one resident receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.

NITHA numbers

As of Dec. 12, the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported no new cases in NITHA communities.

There are seven active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, five; Far North East, one; North Central, 0; and North East, one. There have been 6,851 cases (99 per cent) have recovered, and one person is being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases. However, Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care continues to encourage people to get their vaccinations.
