COVID-19 hospitalizations rise to 252, have nearly doubled in past 10 days

Hospitalizations in Saskatchewan exceeded the 250-mark in Sunday’s update from the Government of Saskatchewan. They are now at 252, an increase of eight from Saturday’s report. Hospitalizations in the province have nearly doubled in the last 10 days, as there were 123 people receiving treatment in hospitals on Jan. 13.

There are 26 patients receiving intensive care in the province, including two in the North Central.

The province also recorded its second straight record for new COVID-19 cases in a single day, as 1,629 were announced on Sunday. That’s 146 more from the previous record of 1,483 reported on Saturday.

Of the new reported cases, 122 are in the North Central, 62 in the North West, 36 in the North East, 22 are in the Far North East, 19 in the Far North West and four in Far North Central.

A total of 13,290 cases are considered active.

NITHA numbers

There are 46 new cases to report today in Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) communities. Of the new cases, 4 (9 per cent) are not vaccinated; 4 (9 per cent) are partially vaccinated; 8 (17 per cent) are fully vaccinated; and 30 (65 per cent) are not eligible for vaccination.

There are 227 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 24; Far North West, 56; Far North East, 99; North Central, 14; and North East, 34. 7197 cases (96%) have recovered, and there are 0 hospitalizations.
