La Ronge Elks Fair returning in July

For the first time since 2019, the Elks Fair will go ahead this summer in La Ronge.

That’s according to Elks Club Exulted Ruler Shea Duncan, who confirmed Canucks Amusements is scheduled to be in the tri-communities from July 22 to 24. Both events in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s great to have Canucks Amusements come back and put on our fair,” he said. “They were very excited and of course we are very excited. It’s been two years in this pandemic. It’s been quite long and I know the fair is a big event for the tri-community.”

In 2019, Canuck Amusements brought 19 rides to La Ronge for children and youth, as well as numerous food and merchandise booths, games of chance and more. Duncan is hopeful the event will be bigger and better in 2022.

The Elks Fair serves as a major fundraiser for the volunteer organization and the event typically attracts thousands of attendees from the area and nearby communities.

“The money we raise throughout the weekend at the fair goes back into the community,” Duncan said. “With those funds, we are able to make donations throughout the year. It’s a super big fundraiser for ourselves, the Ice Wolves, as well as many local vendors.”

Earlier this week, it was also announced the Prince Albert Summer Fair is coming back after a two-year hiatus. That event will run from August 2 to 6.
