Air Ronge residents encouraged to think about the future at upcoming focus group meetings

Residents of Air Ronge have an opportunity to provide their input about the village and its future at two upcoming focus group meetings.

The meetings will be facilitated by Vadis Consulting Group from Saskatoon, who have been hired by council to assist them through the strategic planning process. The sessions will be held April 10 with the first from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“Right now, the village is undertaking the strategic planning process,” Coun. McDougall said. “Part of that is getting some community engagement, so that we can shape our plan with our community’s input and their thoughts and feeling into what direction they want to see our community go.”

McDougall described the process as building a road map for Air Ronge, noting council wants to know what residents envision for the village and how they think the village can get there. The idea is to set the community on a specific path to move forward into the future.

The focus groups are not community meetings, but rather facilitated discussions with questions and answers. Another focus group meeting is also being organized by Coun. Tabitha Burr to engage youth in the process as well.

“We are looking for the basic information like how long they have resided in Air Ronge, what are their thoughts about living in our community, what is their experience living in Air Ronge, what do they value most about being a resident in Air Ronge and what values do they think or believe should be pressed upon council?” McDougall said.

For anyone interested in joining the two focus groups, they are encouraged to register by emailing Kristy at kristymcdougallvillage@gmail.com or call/text to 1-306-425-8161. The only requirement to register is being a resident of Air Ronge.

“We would like to see a diverse representation from our community,” McDougall said.
