Man wanted by local and Manitoba RCMP on several charges

Updated: Saskatchewan RCMP reported that Barker was arrested at a business in Winnipeg, Manitoba around 8:30 a.m. on May 6, 2022.

The arrest came after an extensive investigation and collaboration among multiple units and RCMP detachments, including the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Enforcement Response Team-WEST, who was assisted by Tisdale, Nipawin, Hudson Bay and Rose Valley RCMP Detachments, Manitoba RCMP Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team and Emergency Response Team and Saskatchewan conservation officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch.

Matthew Barker is wanted on warrants from the Nipawin RCMP, Tisdale RCMP, Hudson Bay RCMP and Swan River RCMP following multiple charges.

The 31-year-old is wanted on charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance, failure to stop while being pursued by a police officer and trafficking stolen property.

Officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team and Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team, Manitoba RCMP’s Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, along with officers from numerous detachments, are actively trying to locate and arrest him. Investigation has determined he is actively evading police and Saskatchewan RCMP is asking for assistance from the public.

Barker may be in Saskatchewan or Manitoba. He is from the Swan River, Man. area and frequently travels to the Nipawin, Tisdale and Hudson Bay area, though his current whereabouts are unknown.

He is described as 5’11” and approximately 250 lb, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on his forearms and a large tattoo on his neck.

Barker may be armed and is considered dangerous and RCMP are warning the public not to approach him.
