Pattison Media in Saskatchewan is joining the rest of the country in celebrating National Indigenous History Month – an opportunity to recognize First Nations, Inuit and Métis people’s history, culture, and contributions to Canada.

Following the discovery of unmarked graves at former Residential School sites in Saskatchewan and British Columbia, acknowledging and understanding National Indigenous People’s Day and History Month is more important than ever, as many of our fellow Canadians go through the pain and re-traumatization of their past.

In addition to learning about the meaning behind the month and National Indigenous People’s Day, the material on this site will also offer educational information on Treaties, how to support Indigenous entrepreneurs and other ways to honour the culture, language, and tradition.

We hope this dedicated page and the stories we tell throughout the year in our many newsrooms across the province will help to keep in mind the generations of resilience and leadership Indigenous Peoples have shown and some of the hardships they continue to face.
