Jun 13, 2022 | 5:00 PM

La Ronge is included in a rainfall warning issued by Environment Canada on Monday.

Other locations included in the rainfall warning are Candle Lake Provincial Park, Lac La Ronge Provincial Park, Montreal Lake, Molanosa, Narrows Hills Provincial Park, Pinehouse Lake and the Prince Albert National Park. At times, heavy rain is likely.

“A significant rainfall event is expected with 50 to 70 millimetres of rain expected by Wednesday evening,” the warning states. “Heavy rain will begin Tuesday morning and persist through the day on Wednesday, before tapering off Wednesday night.”

It notes heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water to pool on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible and residents should watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

The forecast for La Ronge is calling for clouds until Sunday. There is 60 per cent chance of showers this evening with rain beginning overnight. Tuesday is also expected to be windy with gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour.

Rainy weather is expected to return to the area on Friday and last until some time on Saturday. The temperatures are average for this time of year.

The greatest rainfall ever recorded on June 14 is 62.6 mm set in 1997.
