RCMP arrests fourth suspect wanted after June shooting in La Ronge

Mounties have found a woman wanted in connection with an incident that saw gunshots fired at a Saskatchewan RCMP officer in La Ronge.

On June 19, the RCMP said officers were patrolling in the community when a man got out of a car with a gun and fired at the officer’s vehicle. The police car was hit in the windshield and radiator, but the officer inside was unhurt.

The police returned fire and retreated before tracking the suspects to a home in La Ronge. An emergency alert was issued warning people to avoid the area, and while police made a number of arrests at the scene, a number of people were still wanted in connection with the incident.

Later in June, one of the suspects, Terrance Daigneault, was picked up by police at a business on Northridge Drive in Saskatoon.

Daigneault was wanted on a number of charges, including two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Also arrested was 24-year-old Nikeyta Bradfield, who was charged as an accessory to attempted murder.

In early July, the RCMP caught up with another suspect, 36-year-old Allan Sanderson, who was found in the backseat of a vehicle parked at a business in La Ronge. The RCMP said he was hiding under a blanket when he was found, and an illegally modified firearm was also seized from the vehicle.

Sanderson was charged with obstruction and unauthorized possession of a firearm in relation to the June 19 incident, the RCMP said.

On Thursday, the RCMP said officers found the last of their suspects, Celine Charles, in Air Ronge. She made an attempt to run, the RCMP said, but was arrested without trouble.

Charles is facing a single charge of obstruction and was scheduled to make a court appearance Friday morning.

“All four individuals charged in relation to this dangerous incident — which involved a firearm being discharged at a police officer and a dangerous person alert being issued in the La Ronge area — are now in custody,” Sgt. Ashley St. Germaine, an RCMP officer with Prince Albert General Investigation Section, said in a statement.

“We want to thank the La Ronge community for their assistance and support during this complex investigation. Together, we are sending a clear message to those who wish to threaten our communities’ safety: we will not tolerate it.”

The shooting incident remains under investigation by the La Ronge RCMP.
