Nominations open for annual awards gala

Nominations have opened for the 2022 Tri-Community Awards Gala.

The event, which is hosted by the La Ronge and District Chamber of Commerce, will occur Oct. 22. Residents have until Sept. 2 at 11:59 p.m. to nominate an individual or business for an award.

This year the Hugh Watt Legacy Award will be given away for the first time. The award, which honours the late town councillor and businessman, Hugh Watt, is meant to recognize a business or organization that goes above and beyond with their commitment to the betterment of our tri-community and its people.

Other awards open for nomination are Home-Based Business of the Year; Non-Profit of the Year; Youth Leader/Entrepreneur of the Year; Retail Business of the Year; Entrepreneuer of the Year; Service, Industry and Trades of the Year; Restaurant of the Year; and Citizen of the Year.

This will mark the fourth time nominations will be accepted for the Tri-Community Awards Gala. Events were held in 2018 and 2019, but the 2020 ceremony was cancelled due to COVID and no winners were chosen, however, nominees were announced.
