A young person has been arrested and charged for breaking and entering La Ronge’s Churchill Community High School last month.

The incident was reported to La Ronge RCMP on Aug. 24 and officers believe the break-and-enter occurred between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. that same day.

Police noted five youths broke into the school through a window, and once inside, caused an estimated $25,000 worth of damage.

One youth, who can’t be identified as per the Youth criminal justice Act, has been located, arrested, and charged with break-and-enter and mischief over $5,000.The youth is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on October 31.

The investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to locate the other four individuals.

“There was a lot of cleaning that needed to be done,” said Northern Lights School Division superintendent of education Meghan Beaven. “Our school looks like it did prior to all the vandalism that occurred. It’s been cleaned up really well and all damages have been repaired.”
