RCMP searching for man who escaped custody in Pelican Narrows

Nov 1, 2022 | 10:00 AM

Pelican Narrows RCMP is searching for a man who escaped police custody last week.

Last Wednesday around 6 p.m., RCMP officers were called to a report of a break-in at a home in Pelican Narrows.

Officers took a man into custody and later found out he was wanted for failing to appear in court on charges related to a November 2021 investigation into a stolen truck, which fled from police. Those charges included resisting/obstructing a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The man was arrested and placed in a police vehicle. The officer went back into the home for three to four minutes to complete the investigation but when they returned, the door to the police vehicle was open and the man was not inside.

Donnie Sewap, 23, now faces an additional charge of escaping lawful custody.

Pelican Narrows RCMP has been working to find him and are now asking the public for help.

Sewap stands 5-11 and weighs 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

He is known to visit Creighton and Flin Flon, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

If you see Donnie Sewap, you’re asked to contact Pelican Narrows RCMP at 306-765-3300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
