Four arrested and charged after attempted robbery on Highway 165
La Ronge RCMP made four arrests after an attempted robbery on Highway 165 early Thursday morning.
RCMP’s investigation of the incident revealed that a group of people pulled over on Highway 165 when they saw a man waving for help beside a disabled SUV, the release said. When the group pulled over, a man pointed a firearm at the group and order them to leave their vehicle. The group was able to drive away without any physical injuries.
After a search of the area, RCMP found two of the accused walking on the highway and two more in the SUV. Eight firearms were hidden in the snow and one was found in the vehicle. RCMP also determined the guns were reported stolen earlier on Thursday from a La Ronge home.
Evan Rain of Paul First Nation, 29, Taza Spyglass of North Battleford, 31, Wayne McLeod, 22 of La Ronge, and Cool Water Standinghorn of Moosomin First Nation, 21 face a number of charges and are scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Friday.
