Deadlines to remove ice fishing shelters from Sask. lakes approaching

Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment is reminding anglers to reel in their ice fishing shelters in the coming weeks.

The deadlines to remove shelters south of Highway 16 is March 15, and March 31 is the deadline for shelters north of that highway.

The ministry said shacks should be taken off the ice before it gets unsafe.

“Spring weather can be unpredictable, leading to unsafe ice conditions, sometimes earlier than expected,” the ministry said in a release. “Owners must remove all structures and litter from the ice.
