General election day for LLRIB members

Eligible voters can cast a ballot in the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) general election occurring today, Thursday, March 30.

Voting is taking place between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in all LLRIB communities including Grandmother’s Bay, Kitsaki and Lac La Ronge Reserves, Little Red River, Morin Lake, Stanley Mission and Sucker River.

In addition, ballots can also be cast at the community halls in Brabant Lake, Pinehouse Lake and Sikachu, as well as the P.A. Inn in Prince Albert and Ramada Inn in Saskatoon.

Online voting closed at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, after it commenced on March 18.

Tammy Cook-Searson, Bruce Fredrick McKenzie and John P. Roberts are running for chief. Councillor candidates for Lac La Ronge are Roger Beatty, Michael Bird, Nina Bird, Leon Charles, Anita Cook, Samuel Hardlotte, Robert McKenzie, Percy Mirasty, Ann Ratt, Dean Roberts, Sam Roberts, Terry Ross, Dennis Sanderson and Cheryline Venne.

Councillor candidates in Stanley Mission are Jimmy Charles, Larry Charles, Linda Charles, Robin McKenzie, Angus McLeod, Andrew Roberts and Moses Isiah Roberts.

Councillor candidates in Little Red River are David Charles, Tom Cook, Jerry Halkett, John Halkett, Keith Mirasty and Robert Mirasty. Councillor candidates in Grandmother’s Bay are Clifford McKenzie and Gerald McKenzie.

Norman Ross in Morin Lake and Devin Bernatchez in Sucker River were both acclaimed.
