La Ronge RCMP charge three with robbery, assault with a weapon

La Ronge RCMP have arrested three individuals and charged them with several criminal offences.

According to a media release, officers from the La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint on May 1 of armed robbery and assault with a weapon in the La Ronge area. Residents of the La Ronge district would have noticed an increased presence of RCMP officers near a local business, (not related to the robbery) where four individuals were taken into custody.

Two additional individuals were taken into custody a short while later at a residence in the La Ronge area.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Cordell McCallum (La Ronge), 21, Nap McCallum (Prince Albert), 28, and Dianna McCallum (Stanley Mission), 24, with robbery, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, and possession property knowing it was obtained by the commission in Canada of an offence punishable by indictment.

Cordell McCallum is also charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle while over.

All three individuals have been remanded into custody to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on May 4 at 9:30 a.m.

The other three individuals that were taken into custody have been released without charge.
