Sask. British Car Club show in Patterson Park on Saturday

Jul 25, 2023 | 12:10 PM

The Saskatchewan British Car Club has chosen La Ronge as part of one of their provincial tours.

The club has partnered with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 371 to hold the event, which will bring about seven all-British themed cars to La Ronge’s Patterson Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prior to their upcoming stop in La Ronge, their most northernly show was held at Waskesiu Lake.

“Every year, the Saskatchewan British Car Club picks a place to go to around the province and they’ve wanted to come to La Ronge for a couple of years now and now it is going to happen,” Legion President Shaune Lapworth said.

“The Legion is going to partner with them. We are going to be the hosts, so they are going to be staying at the Harbour Inn, so right next door is convenient.”

As part of their visit, members of the car club will visit Robertson Trading on Friday. They will also participate in a Thank Gosh It’s Friday fundraiser at the Legion. The fundraiser, which is a burger, salad and beer for $10, is open to anyone who wishes to attend. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Following the show on Saturday, members of the Legion will take the car club members to Missinipe for supper. They will also tour the La Ronge Tanker Base on this day.

“There’s a few members who have cabins up here, so they already know the region,” Lapworth said. “They know the beauty that is up here.”

Lapworth noted there will also be other local vintage, special interest or antique cars that will be on display this weekend in Patterson Park. Anyone with a car that matches that description are welcome to join the show too, he said.
