Nige B releases new album featuring international artists

Northern artist Nige B (Nigel Bell) has released an album titled U R What U R Volume 1.

In his latest work, Bell collaborated with artists from South Africa, Nigeria, and all across Turtle Island – from Seattle, Washington to Delaware and New York. U R What U R Vol. 1 is a unique fusion of hip hop, jazz, indie, and post-rock.

“It’s amazing to have all of these people be part of this record,” Bell said.

“This is volume one I am releasing, so there are six tracks and then when I release volume two of this record, there will be another six tracks with artists that are from different parts of the world,” he said.

The new album includes themes of introspection and love life transitions. It reflects on emotional depth combined with catchy melodic sounds. It has been described as Bell’s most enthralling album to date.

“It’s been a pretty unique experience, but it has been really fun figuring out how to mix it together and then finding the right artists for it,” Bell said.

“It was an idea I had. I was just curious. They are my favourite genres and I wanted to mix them together to see what it would sound like. I’ve never really heard any records that mixed those genres together, so I figured I would give it a try and they actually mixed pretty well together.”

Bell began working on the album about a year ago, but really focused on it this past summer. The process included Bell recording the instrumentals, sending them to other artists so they can record their vocals on top of it, and then finally mixing and mastering the contents.

U R What U R Volume 1, released Tuesday, can be found on all major streaming platforms such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Sporify and YouTube Music.

In addition, he also released an EP on Monday called Chroma under the moniker Velcro Stories. That music can be found on SoundCloud.
