Exhibit exploring dog-human relationship to begin two-year tour at Wanuskewin Heritage Park
The research-based art exhibit TIM MASKIKHIY: Dog Medicine will be displayed for two months at Saskatoon’s Wanuskewin Heritage Park starting Jan. 20.
The exhibition was curated by Dr. Jordan Woodsworth, the director of Northern Engagement and Community Outreach for the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. It was displayed at La Ronge’s Mistasinihk Place in July 2022 and the show at Wanuskewin marks the start of a two-year tour organized by the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils.
There are 17 artists represented in the exhibit including Andrea Cowan, Caron Dubnick, Donna Langhorne, Hilary Johnstone, John Halkett, Larissa Muirhead, Miriam Körner, Molly Ratt, Myles Charles, Nancy Lafleur, Terri Franks, Sammi Kopeck, Abigail Clarke, Annalisa Heppner, Jade Roberts, Jasmine Grondin, and Wendy Cleveland.
“It’s a great place for it to start because this is about the dog-human relationship and the majority of the artists are Indigenous, so to be able to host it at Wanuskewin, it gets a lot of traffic and a lot of tourists coming through,” Woodsworth said.
