La Ronge woman facing manslaughter charge

La Ronge RCMP have laid charges stemming from a vehicle-pedestrian collision in September 2021.

Christine Charles, 29, from La Ronge has been charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle – causing death, operating a motor vehicle while impaired -causing death, and failure to stop after an accident resulting in death.

On Sept. 30, 2021, officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Frances Roberts Street on Kitsaki Indian Reserve 156B. The pedestrian, who was identified as a 22-year-old man from Sucker River, was transported to hospital and later declared deceased.

La Ronge RCMP continued to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, La Ronge’s General Investigation Section, and Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services.
