Vehicle strikes downtown power pole resulting in outage

Crews are working to restore a power pole along La Ronge Avenue.

According to SaskPower, at 11:49 p.m. on Sunday, La Ronge RCMP contacted SaskPower to let them know that a pole had been knocked down by a vehicle collision. A crew crews arrived on site at 12:15 a.m., and power was brought back online at 2:16 a.m.

A total of 593 customers in La Ronge, Air Ronge, and some surrounding areas were without power as a result of the downed pole.

While SaskPower couldn’t provide a total cost of the damage, a spokesperson confirmed the Crown corporation does not charge municipalities for such incidents.
