New skylights at Mistasinihk Place to cost $2.3 million

The provincial government is spending nearly $2.3 million in repairs at La Ronge’s Mistasinihk Place.

An email to larongeNOW from SaskBuilds and Procurement states the ongoing project is a skylight replacement. The replacement was deemed necessary to fix leaking skylights, which was causing water to leak into the building.

The construction cost is $1,985,380, while the total project cost is $2,260,000. Construction started April 22.

Mistasinihk Place is a large office building in La Ronge housing staff from multiple provincial ministries including Corrections and Policing, Environment, Central Services, Highways, Justice, Education, Legal Aid, Government Relations, Immigration and Career Training, Social Services and Trade and Export Development.

It is also home to a Northlands College campus, as well as gallery space for the La Ronge Arts Council.
