Eagle Point golf course ready for 2024 season

May 6, 2024 | 4:26 PM

Eagle Point Resort is now open for golfers to book a tee time.

The nine-hole golf course officially opened May 6, which is four days later than it opened in 2023. Owner Lolita Poirier said the golf course could have opened over the weekend, but staff were busy hosting the Little Black Dress event on Saturday.

“I just opened the pro shop [on Sunday], so people could come in and grab some supplies if they wanted or grab their membership or beat the rush and that kind of thing,” she explained.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) night is our first men’s night, so it will be a mad rush in here again.”

Poirier noted the golf course wintered well, adding the paths are dry and there are only a couple wet spots on the course itself.

As with previous years, junior golf will be held on Mondays, followed by men’s night on Tuesdays, ladies night on Wednesdays and mixed golf on Thursdays. Poirier said she is still unsure of the details of the junior golf program.

There are several golf tournaments already planned for the season including the men’s and ladies tournaments, as well as the Ice Wolves Alumni Golf Tournament, which will be held on June 15. There are also several spring and year-end staff events planned, along with a couple of weddings.

Poirier mentioned if any groups or individuals want to hold an event at Eagle Point, they should reach out to her sooner rather than later.

She is still also looking to hire three or four full or part-time staff. They will work either in the clubhouse as an attendant or as a yard worker.

“I like them to be flexible that way if we have a function they can help out with the bigger events, but also be able to greet and check in the golfers for the season,” Poirier said of the clubhouse attendants, who need to be 19 or older.

“It can be part-time or full-time. My peak times for golfing are in the afternoon and into the evening, so if you are looking for a part-time job as a second job then that usually works out.”
