Saskatchewan NDP asks Speaker to call meeting on gun allegation, invite investigation

REGINA — Saskatchewan’s Opposition NDP has asked the Speaker to call a meeting so an independent investigator can be appointed to look into allegations of guns and bullying in the legislature.

Democracy critic Meara Conway says the meeting would be done through the house services committee, which has the authority to give an investigator power to summon witnesses.

Saskatchewan Party government members make up a majority on the committee and would need to lend their support for an investigation.

Cabinet minister Jeremy Harrison has said he took a long gun into the legislature on his way to go hunting about a decade ago.
