A group of 22 students from Senator Myles Venne School (SMVS) have reached an important and memorable milestone in their lives.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday for a graduation ceremony at Jonas Roberts Memorial Community School. It was attended by several delegates, including Principal Dale Ahenakew, who in his speech told graduates their perseverance, dedication and hard work in the face of all of their challenges is inspiring.

“We are proud of how you have responded and overcame the challenges in front of you,” he said.

“Being here today and ready to graduate is a tremendous accomplishment and feeling within itself. Your curiosity, kindness and braveness show you are ready to take on what the world has to offer.”

Ahenakew also thanked parents, guardians, teachers and support staff for their drive to ensure graduates were successful. He noted he hopes with their assistance, graduates will be able to overcome life’s highs and lows, and they will be able to continue through their journey in life.

“Students, it has been so encouraging to witness how you have grown in your confidence, faith, knowledge and understanding during your time at SMVS,” Ahenakew said.

Ross added as they move on to the next chapter in their lives, to remember the bonds they have formed and the experiences they have shared.

“As we gather here to celebrate our journey through high school, a journey marked by challenges, growth, and unforgettable memories, let us reflect back on how much we have learned, not just from our dedicated teachers and staff, but also from each other,” she said.
