La Ronge RCMP have arrested a 30-year-old man who is facing several charges after severing a finger from three other adults.

On June 26, police received a report of an injured individual at the local hospital. As a result of investigation, officers determined a man took three adults, who were known to him, to a rural location in the area.

The victims were threatened with a firearm and assaulted, including each having a finger severed.

After a continued investigation, 30-year-old Kaylen Charles from La Ronge was charged with five counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault by choking, four counts of uttering threats, mischief, multiple firearms charges and failing to comply with release order condition.

He was also on warrant for failing to attend court, and failing to comply with a release order condition after La Ronge RCMP received a report he’d cut off a device monitoring his court-ordered curfew on June 20. Charles was arrested by RCMP without incident earlier this month.

Charles is also facing several charges from an arrest in May. During that arrest, officer seized approximately 110,000 illegal cigarettes, one kilogram of morphine powder, eight firearms, ammunition and trafficking paraphernalia.
