Manslaughter charges stayed for three La Ronge men
Aug 16, 2024 | 5:00 PM
Charges have been stayed against three men from La Ronge who were facing manslaughter charges.
In November 2023, RCMP were called to a Lac La Ronge Indian Band residence after receiving a report of an injured person. There they found 42-year-old Randy Halkett, who later died at the hospital.
Police later arrested Jared Gale, Garrett McDonnell and John McDonnell. This week the Crown directed a stay of proceedings against all three men.
A stay of proceedings means the charges have been put on hold, but the Crown can prosecute the men again on the same charges within one year.
