New CAO arrives in Air Ronge

Aug 22, 2024 | 5:00 PM

Trevor Peterson is the new chief administrative officer for Air Ronge.

His first day on the job was Aug. 6 and, since that time, he was making himself familiar with the community, as well as getting up to date on village bylaws and policies. Peterson holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of Saskatchewan and, most recently, served as the acting administrator of the RM of Pleasantdale near Melfort for about one year.

“I saw the ad and it intrigued me,” Peterson said about his new position with the village.

“My wife and I discussed it and I thought I would put in an application. The more I discussed it with my mentor at the time in Pleasantdale, the more we figured it would be a better fit for my skills and it would help me develop more as an administrator in my career. Whether this ends up being my final stop or whether I move on at some point in the future, it just seemed like a natural progression for me.”

Peterson has experience as an economic development officer and he spent some time working with Canada Post. He also spent 10 years as a city councillor in Warman, where he and his wife owned a business selling signage.

In the little more than two weeks Peterson has been living in Air Ronge, he explained he has been enjoying the local environment.

“It’s absolutely as beautiful as I thought it was before I applied for it,” he said.

“My wife and I really like the spruce forest and lakes and rivers and creeks. I love that beauty of nature. I like fishing and stuff like that, so that was part of the attraction of coming up here. I make sure I get out for walks most days.”

Peterson takes over from interim administrator Nicole Lerat, who stepped in following the departure of Gavin Willins about one year ago.
